Four cops on the scene as I start my hike
Hanging out, sipping coffee by this forest I like
But I walk down the trail, watching a bird
Wait! Was that a breaking branch I just heard
Sounded suspicious, now I’m afraid
It’s getting near dark in this deep, leafy glade
I thought I heard breathing, or was that my own?
My eyes scan the path where new brambles have grown
And there in the shadows, among vines and limbs
